Excitement is in the air regarding the New Year and naturally it should be! Everybody is saying "New Year, New Me", "New Year, New You", "New Year, New Us!" But, WHAT IS YOUR NEW THING? What is it that you're really expecting to see happen this year for you? And what are you doing to ensure that this "New Thing" shows up in your life?
Well, as I began to think about this New Year, I came across a scripture in the bible, Isaiah 43:18-19. This scripture speaks about God doing "New Things" in our lives.
As I read through the passage of scripture, I was reminded of the one critical thing that is essential to adhere to in order to experience a "New Thing" in 2018, (regardless of what the "New Thing" is) and that is we must forget what is behind us by letting go of the old to embrace the NEW and to focus on what is before us. Why? Because, I believe that everything we need is in front of us.
This includes all the things that happened or didn't happen in our lives in 2017, 2016, 2015 or perhaps even further back than that in order to recognize the "NEW THING". I don't know about you, but sometimes that can be a hard thing for me to do depending on what that thing was.
However, I realized that no matter how hard it might be, I must be willing to say good-bye to it. Good-bye to situations or circumstances that brought pain, disappointment, discouragement, and failure that was either caused by myself or caused by other people.
I RELEASED IT.
What about you? What do you need to release in order to embrace your "New Thing?" What do you need to do to stop nurturing old wounds and rehearsing and reminding yourself of old situations that continue to keep you stuck or trapped in the past?
The reality is, yesterday died last night and last year is irreverent to what is possible today. And the bottom line is we can’t hold on to what was, if we are trying to embrace what is to come.
Therefore, we all have to decide to WAKE UP and BE ATTENTIVE and PRESENT in this "right now" moment for the "New Thing" that is ready to burst on the scene in our lives. The question is, will we recognize it when it appears? Will you see that something new is emerging?
That is why what matters most is paying attention to what is going on right in front of us, so we don't miss this BRAND NEW thing that is on the verge of manifesting in our lives!
This brand new thing that's about to spring up in your life and mine is not going to look like anything that you nor I have ever seen before or experienced before and the time to grab hold of it is NOW!
Are you ready for your New Thing? If so, here is how to prepare to embrace it.
You embrace the "New Thing" with:
NEW FOCUS
A NEW ATTITUDE
NEW FAITH
A NEW MINDSET
NEW ACTIONS
NEW PEOPLE
PRAYING NEW PRAYERS
MAKING NEW DECISIONS
HAVING A NEW TRUST IN SELF AND IN GOD
Once you own your "New Thing" by doing the above, then write down what you believe will spring up in your life. Afterwards, set not only your intentions, but have a resolve that there will be something different in your life in 2018. No more same ole, same ole. Begin to say out loud what will take place in your life by faith and then declare that all things will become New!
Remember, it is up to you to capture this "New Thing" that God is orchestrating to bring to pass in your life. Your only responsibility is to learn to get out of your own way for it to present itself. Because your "New Thing" is on the horizon and the best is yet to come!
