Every New Year we all set our sights on starting new. It's always exciting to think of making a fresh start. So we begin making New Year Resolutions with a determination to finally reach our goals. But here's a thought... who said that we must start the New Year with something brand new to accomplish? What about just continuing to work on what we started last year. In other words, FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED!
Not too long ago, I came across a scripture (2 Corinthians 8:10-11) from the bible which states... "the best thing you can do right now is to finish what you started last year and not let those good intentions grow stale. Your heart's been in the right place all along. You've got what it takes to finish it up so go to it. Once the commitment is clear, you do what you can, not what you can't." ~ Message Bible
Wow! Now, these are words that all of us can sit and ponder a while to see if we find ourselves there. I'm sure we all have certain pursuits that we've purposed to achieve within a certain timeframe. But if we are honest with ourselves, we all have looked up only to find that another year has come and gone and we are right where we started. This experience can sometimes leave many feeling like a failure. However, you don't have to settle into feeling defeated and give up!
Ask yourself....
What have you prevented from taking place in your life because you stopped doing what you were working on only to start something new?
What's been holding you back from reaching your finish line and receiving your reward?
Perhaps your finish line involves creating a better life for yourself which consist of a better career, a better relationship, better health or better finances. Maybe your goal was to go back to school and get that degree your always wanted or to start your own business. Whatever you had in mind to do, you can still Make It Happen!
Here are 3 Success Actions to get you started again:
1. Get clear and identify what it is that you really want to do.
2. Set at least 3 daily intentional target goal(s) that you know you can achieve that day.
3. Do it N.O.W. (N.O.W. stands for No Opportunity Wasted).
You will then be able to look back and see just how far you have come to now crossing over your finish line.
REFLECT: What will you do differently this year to make sure that you finish everything you started? What different mindset, actions, or positive words will you incorporate into your life to ensure that there will be a manifestation of what you believe to come to past?
SUCCESS ACTION TIP: Remember, you don't need to write a new list of resolutions or start completely over. Just continue to move forward in what you've already been working on until you finish!
